IMO this is the biggest threat facing the the future of the hobby and industry, even more so then coin doctoring or any other current issues. I also believe these counterfeits will only get better and better in quality as time goes on, as well as becoming more widespread. image

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of scumbag banks and credit card processors who are willing to process orders for these thieves.

I'd really like to see how "The Donald" would deal with these thieves in china.

P.S. I still think that that cover on David Hall's book is one of the greatest of allimage

Why are we not making copies of these and faxing copies of these to the White House???

We need to deluge them with this sort of stuff so that they pay more attention and get the authorities on it?

I highly doubt "the authorities" would be the least bit interested, or at least any more so than in the hundreds of other websites that offer counterfeit Rolex watches, counterfeit software, counterfeit DVD's, counterfeit designer bags and clothing, jewelry, etc.

China (our "Most Favored Trading Partner" and both manufacturer / distributor of over 75-80% of all the worlds counterfeit, knockoff, fake goods) will continue this practice unabated. Many luxury goods makers have long since given up on trying to control the production and worldwide distribution of counterfeit goods originating from China.

I also agree with Oreville. But we need to identify the entity most likely to give a rip and then make a collective, concerted effort. So far, all we do is talk about how "someone should do something."

Okay. I just spoke with Secret Service agent, John Tani, in the Honolulu office.
Basically, until they start counterfeiting the coinage that is circulating today, nobody's gonna care...
John's only suggestion was to try www.IC3.gov - said it's run by the FBI and deals with internet crime.

Sorry if everyone else knew this already. image

IC3.gov is just the current dead-letter office for continuing postal and misc. fraud claims. They don't pay any attention to what's posted
there unless it's in the millions of dollars and continuing. Even then they may not bother. If you have an agent in your local who cares, you might
get some help. This new site has helped to reduce the load on your local postmaster. Now even he doesn't have to bother with your complaint.

I wonder if a governmental legal action OR consumer class action suit could be started against a registrar who knowingly harbors a known seller of fakes.

Of those choices, it would appear a class action lawsuit would be our only option. (And we'd probably have trouble with the "knowingly" part.)

As for governmental legal action; Agent Tani claimed there's no specific "sub-branch" of the Secret Service that would even be interested in us reporting counterfeits to. And he and I talked in circles in regards to "collector coins" still being legal tender...

Are scammers in a legal sweet spot where they can pull this crap with almost no legal reprocussions? Is this the next boom in making a killing in coins-- selling fake slabs with counterfiets in them?
