Ebay bidding question

How come some sellers can limit the number of item one bids on in a given week? What it the motivation for this? I was bidding on a bunch of sellers items and a prompt came up stating that I cannot bit on more than 5 items per week.

Risk Management - Basically the seller does not want all his items tied up on one purchase by one buyer in case the buyer backs out, or there is some type of problem and they end up eating the fees.

They may have been burned in the past.

It's one of the buyer requirements available to sellers, but it usually only applies to low feedback buyers. Your seller may be overreacting.

Doesn't make sense to do that to a bidder with established feedback. Maybe send them an email and they can fix it for you.

It is part of the laundry list of blocks in the listing template. They may not even know they are doing it.

just one more reason for more than one ebay account!

I have the limit set at 5, but only for buyers with less than 5 feedback.

The reason that imediately comes to mind would be that the seller doesn't want the "tar and feather him" screamers on this board to bash his reputation. "It's obvious that he is a scumsucking scammer. Look at all the bids from that single account. Got to be a shill!"
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
