Engelhard NEWP - Have you seen these before

OnlyGoldIsMoneyOnlyGoldIsMoney Posts: 3,542 ✭✭✭✭✭
This morning I was searching through ebay instead of working. I came across a type of Engelhard bar I had not seen before. I made an offer and bought this 1/2 kilo bar.

The seller said these bars are rare. I can only say it is the first of its kind I have seen.

Has anyone ever seen one of these before or know when they were made?

Thanks, Mark.

I've seen the bull crescent stamp before, but never on a bar so crude looking.
That does look to be an early one. Very cool... image

Nice find on that 1/2 kilo. I always liked the fact that they put troy ounces on it. I was eyeballing that bar as well.

Not sure when they were made though.

I think one of those sold on Ebay for around $600 or so when silver was just ~$20/oz. I may be wrong though. Either way, that is an exceedingly rare Engelhard!

Have not seen that one before.
It is odd that they would not express the weight both ways, as 16.075 T.O. AND 500 Grams.
