I am not sure about the insurance but I know their priority small flat rate box rate was increased. It was less than $5 but now it is $5.20. The large size priority was around $12 now it is $14.95. I could be wrong on this.

Your statement might be true if you are comparing it to a 5 year old chart. What is your reference?

That's why I use a third party insurer.

If you are sending packages with any degree of regularity you shouldn't be paying those prices at the post office. You should buy basic coverage with someone like Barb Wingo and get fedex or express mail coverage. Or reg mail.

If you're not sending with regularity it shouldn't amount to much

Looks like a 10¢ increase in the base to me.
They raised a lot of the rates about that amount the first of the year.

Me, too. Even without having a policy though them, you can get "a la carte" insurance for $1.05 per $100 of coverage within the US. Linky

The rate increase was about 10% at most across all methods. It went into effect a while ago.
  • I love the post office.

I realise that that is not an opinion which is universally shared.

They provide reliable service at reasonable prices. They keep their hours. You know that each one has exactly what have all the others. Your stuff is safe with them. If you go out of town for 3 days, your stuff isn't returned as 'undeliverable'. They keep it until you return. If you get into town after midnight, there is a key in your mailbox so you can pick up your packages from the locker. I couldn't exist without them. I love them.
Many, many perfect transactions with other members. Ask please.
