1809 Dime

On the heels of Stone's post, I thought I would share images of my newp. Being primarily a quarter collector, you might find it strange that I bought a dime. I think it's a great year (being the first year of the capped dimes) and I have always wanted one, but never thought I would buy one, because of the prices they command.

I couldn't pass this one up. The price was much more than reasonable, and it's nice and original. Many here would shun the coin for it's low grade, but I think you should enjoy it for the years of service it has given in the name of commerce, and for it's near-miraculous problem-freeness (yeah, that's a word! image)

Nice coin. Seems like my coin - strong reverse, weak obverse!

Billet, I'm jealous of you on this pick up! I hope I can find a 1809 like yours for a fair price one day...That one would look great next to the 1814 I just bought image

    Yes, very nice "near-miraculous problem-freeness."

My son collects bust dimes. He thinks it is a great coin. He also thinks the 1809 and 1811/09 are the two hardest capped bust to find in original condition - just as difficult to find as the 1822. He bought his 1809 from Rich Uhrich and loves his coin! Nice pickup - especially considering the price.
