I responded to this listing on Craigslist and the guy returned my call. He was telling me how he inherited a few PCGS graded coins and needed to sell them in order to pay his mortgage. I asked him where he lived and when he said Miami, when I responded with oh boy, that's about thirty miles he immediately said but I'll be in Boca tomorrow. So I said, before we even bother to meet somewhere, exactly what are you wanting to sell?
He says I've got a Morgan Dollar, a Buffalo Nickel and a couple of others. They're worth about six to eight thousand. So I responded with what are the dates? He mumbled something and said can I call you back in fifteen minutes when I get to the house?
Well of course he never called back because if you have coins that valuable rattling off the dates is second nature. I'm sure this was a scam, I just didn't get into it deep enough to figure out how it was supposed to go down.

<< <i>your first mistake was even looking at craigslist >>
Don't say that the the truck is listed there. Of course my daugher in law is also licenced to carry concealed.
<< <i>I went through a scam like that when I was younger (not coins). The scammer asked for an advance because of some ongoing emergency, I gave him a few bucks and he asked me to hold on to his "valuable" item while he came back. After a few hours, I got tired of waiting and opened the bag where the item was and it turned out to be a roll of toilet paper!

This is one of the oldest ones in the book. Usually they use a lottery ticket that has the winning numbers, just the wrong date. Then they ask you to hold it because they're illegal or something similar.
