Not that!
Another post sharing the results of someone's first PCGS submission got me thinking, this would make an interesting thread.

I remember my first time; like it was yesterday... wait, it WAS yesterday!
P.S. The US Mint minted coins from other years too; they weren't just minted in 1952!

It was the 2nd trip for the Saint Gaudens above, and it has now come back twice cleaned! I'm still not convinced. lol
The 40 small date that didn't slab was a known problem coin -- a test case if you will. They apparently thought the tooling to smooth the rim bruise was the worse of two evils.
In short, none of the Genuine slabs surprised me.
To be frank, I expected a few of the above coins to NOT slab -- all were bought raw, most from EAC dealers, and a few I thought questionable -- so I was pleasantly surprised at the results.
Overall, they graded very close to what I expected. One disappointment and one surprise.
I was very encouraged by the results overall. I've collected large cents on and off since childhood (more off than on) and it was satisfying to see that if anything I'm a bit more conservative than PCGS when it comes to large cents.

Enough of that,
I sent in 4 NCG commems and they all crossed at the same grade.
I think the Antietam should have up-graded but that's my opinion.

I sent in one UHR and got lucky. It could only go downhill from here.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
