Mint ASE (Silver Eagle) Supply Issues

ProofCollectionProofCollection Posts: 7,803 ✭✭✭✭✭
Listening to a radio show, they reported that the mint has temporarily halted sales of ASE's and/or increased premiums and they can't get any at the moment. Looking at APMEX, the lowest premium is now $3.19 (was 2.59 the other day I believe). this is after the US Mint reported the biggest January sales numbers ever.

Can any dealers confirm the ASE situation?

There seems to be some confusion regarding ASEs, especially now that they are becoming hyped and lots of newcomers are probably jumping on board.

Is this in reference to the Mint not striking the 2010 uncirculated collector versions (which were never made)? Or bullion?

If someone in the know can please confirm, that'd be great.
