  Well for coins, there is strike, luster, wear.
  
  For collectors, there is talent, connections, knowledge, perhaps friendliness, joy of the hobby.
  
  Talent, average. Connections average. Knowledge above average. Joy from hobby average.
  
  Where does that put me? If I am a mint state Morgan, average might be MS63. If an old Bust half, average might be F to VF.
