  • Looks like a cleaned authentic coin. If not, this is getting real scary.
  • Nothing jumps out at me.

Looks okay to me. Not the best pictures, of course.

What do you see that says it's fake?

    I don't know. I wouldn't touch it, though.

  • Right now at this point concerning trade dollars,i would not buy one for $1.00 because of the fact that these coins have been counterfeited since the 1800's ,only way i would buy one is if it was in my hand ,under an eye loup where i could closely examine the coin before purchase ,i have seen these trade dollars ,that were in a family collection for 40 years come in and i had to tell them they were fakes=some inheritance-huh? BTW the chinese are getting really good at replicateing the Morgan dollars too they almost got the weight right=almost-image

everything I see says "looks real" (although 76cc has been some of the best fakes I have seen) but it would be an all new Rev die so it all but has to be fake

I'm in the NOT real crowd. Dentils on the reverse, at the top, are way too small or short or whatever.

The 8 in the date is at an angle, slightly NE of vertical and I've never seen that before.

Let us know if you win and send to PCGS!

Sure looks to me like I/I micro cc MM, Breen 5804. All normal font date numerals That being stated, I believe it is very real.

Why do you claim it has to be an all new rev. die? The Asian forgers are prone to silly ass mistakes on obv/rev die pairings, which I don't see here. The Breen 5804 is scarce enough that the forgers aren't likely to have had a host coin for producing bogus dies.

  • IGWT motto looks a little funny but everything else is ok looking.
That said I dont like the chances of it being real. Kinda sad that midgrade common trade dollars are almost as tough to sell as nude Roseanne Barr photos.

    picture is too small

I am pretty sure it is cleaned

a type 1 reverse but the mintmarks are too close together - almost like Morgan or half dollar spacings

the rare Breen 5804 has widely spaced CC's

Those pictures are even worse than usual.... however, as best I can see, it could be original. Usual disclaimer, in hand (or even with quality pictures) it could be a whole different animal. Cheers, RickO

I won't go near a raw Trade Dollar. Having said that, nothing screams "fake" to me here.

Then it MUST be real since they assume you will keep it.

no one is asking for better pictures,
    no one is buying it.

    poor pictures to begin with,

what's the point of discussing it?

does no returns mean that if you win it you can still return it if you dont believe its real when you get it ? or ?

The obverse looks good but the detail on the reverse is probably one of the strongest strikes I have ever seen...
may the fonz be with you...always...
  • coolestcoolest Posts: 2,281 ✭✭✭
I am thinking this coin has too much detail and the originals were a lower relif.
  • While its not my series so can't say if its fake or not but I wouldn't buy it.
