Color on copper remains one of the hardest things to show in images. New collectors wanting
to get better at this should strongly consider an actual grading set that they can use for
comparison. I'm sure that Rick Snow or many other copper dealers will be happy to help with
a set of Indian cents, for example. A set in PCGS holders that ranges from Brown to Full Red, with
at least 4 versions of Red Brown (20% red, 40% red, 60% red, and 80% red) would be a great
set to share at a coin club meeting or a coin show.

I agree. It is nice to see PCGS taking the time to inform novice collectors. Maybe he can do an article on how to identify cleaning or common counterfeit tells.

In looking at those 6 examples of varying degrees of Mercury dime band detailing, I see way too many called Full Band that are equivalent to their lower 2nd and 3rd from the bottom photos (ie not really full band). But at least it's good to know that these are the actual standards.

Nice post. It confirmed my thoughts on Mercs and Franklins then I learned about Full Head. I will read about copper later. Cool post, I had no idea those articles existed.
