If you had a choice between listening to coin telemarketers every day, or bubonic plague.... which version of the “Black Death” would you prefer?...just curious.

    None of the above.

Bubonic plague. Seriously--I've been vaccinated against the bacterium that causes this.

There's a reason that they invented earplugs and whistles.

I actually enjoy watching the telemarketers. It is interesting to deconstruct all the different ways they mangle the truth. It makes me wonder how conscious they are about the whole process. Do they work out their lies as a team, or are they just so corrupted that they can think up new ones in real-time on the air? It would be fascinating to go drinking with these guys.

The plague can be cured, telemarketers go on forever..... Seriously, I am fairly tolerant, however, I cannot listen to the garbage they spew... Cheers, RickO

I admit it, sometimes I have watched only to hear what line of BS they come up with next. image

I like talking to the telemarketers from Blanchard.

Its a break in the day for me to talk coins...

No other dealer ever calls me.
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .

"Hey, this is Jimmy from the coin store. Now, what I have today are original rolls of Franklin halves.
Our in-house experts opened a few to check the quality and have determined that most are MS64.
Do you know what MS64 means?"

    "yes"

"Great. Now we can only sell you 3 rolls at the most. So, how many rolls would you like?"

    "Click"

I'd go with the telemarketers. Bubonic plague has an almost universal death rate.

  • I too enjoy talking to tele-marketers. When you know coins and you know sales it is fun to turn the cold call onto them and make them back peddle and retract their pitch.

Yeah. One of the guys that cold-called me finally just gave up and said, "Are you in the business?"

I think I could deal with telemarketers more effectively that I could deal with the plague.

It's the flea thing. Disgusting bloodsucking parasitic creature. I'll take the telemarketer. The flea chooses you. You choose the telemarketer.

I have an idea for a new reality show, should score ratings off the charts. We COMBINE the two ideas...we take telemarketers to a desert island, infect them with bubonic plague, and put them on the phone. The last one able to stay on the phone wins Round 1, we repeat this until we run out (like that woud ever happen), then we hold a tournament of champions. When we get down to the last living telemarketer, we either pay him to retire or elect him president.
