  how long do you believe you have before china starts making 90% dimes quarters and halves ? what is even more detrimental to the hobby is people not being able to tell the fakes from the real ones.

  regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

  ebaybuyer, you know, I believe if silver continues to hold at this price (30ish) and go higher, the Chinese will start faking the halves, quarters, and dimes. As I type, they might even be faking them now!
  
  If someone could find a way to detect fakes easier that would be great, kind of like a cheat sheet. I don't know anything about morgans so I would be easily duped by the chinese fakes. For halves, quarters, and dimes, I hope that I can spot a fake from amongst a group of real ones but who knows. As the Chinese make better and better counterfeits we all may have to start carrying scales or whatever gadget that can help us in figuring out fake from real.

  I saw a picture of that earlier somewhere. they even looked fake. i think there was an 1889 cc in there as well. shrugs

  llafoe, what do you do about fake ones in fake slabs? That can be trickier I believe. I think a while back there were some dealers who even bought fake coins in fake slabs
  
  I know that silver has a distinct ring but imagine buying like 500 mercury dimes.......... dropping each and everyone of them would be annoying if it got to the point that the chinese are faking dimes.
