To piggyback on goldeneye's question...another USPS question

I have another question.....I have noticed recently that the USPS is not scanning regular delievery confirmation packages upon arrival for shipment. Is this common practice now???

Edit to add the customer bought two items the other one showed from here to there I was wondering what happened until it showed up the next day. BTW I dropped then into the blue box at the same time and place.
Usually they show starting the trip at my local Post Office or when they pass threw Kent at the regional center.
<< <i>Mine do not get scanned until they hit the processing center.

Same here, they tried to scan them here and it does nothing... even the delivery driver doesn't scan them when I hand them to him. I wish they would still do it.

No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
Without online confirmation of shipment/delivery, Ebay/PP can not determine who did or did not do what, should there be a claim/dispute.
I no longer use delivery confirmation... basically worthless... they can deliver ANYWHERE... wrong address... even a garbage can or their own pockets... if they scan it as delivered you are SOL... I know from experience.
I use Sig Conf at all times... problem is that sometimes they deliver without getting a signature...
The PO just ain't what it used to...

<< <i>I may be mistaken... but that might create a major problem with an ebay transaction.

Good grief, I hope you don't charge the buyer of a $25 item for the cost of Sign. Confirmation. From my experience, about 99% of electronic labels do get scanned at one point or another & that's the only proof you need for items under $249.99 to be covered under buyers protection. If the buyer claims he never received it but the PO claims it was delivered, have him take it up with the Postal Inspector.

I offer free shipping...
I once had another forum member send me a small set of inexpensive coins won on ebay... he followed ebay/pp rules... insured for under $100 and DC... never arrived... yet showed online as delivered... who knows where???
Filed a claim... it was denied... they said "it shows as delivered... we delivered" ... no argument was sufficient... I wrote it all off and made my decision to never use DC again... it is useless...
...and I have more concern for my customers than to tell them to basically "pound sand" with no recourse except to pit their word against a postal employees word... from my experience... the PO will win in this type of a case...

<< <i>Hey Larry, have you tried taking a camera phone with you to the Post Office, and held your package up next to the clerks mug while snapping a digital photo? That should be a good protocol for confirming acceptance by the U.S.P.S.
I like it!
When I started getting nervous on the Registered Mail (I was much greener then) package, he sent me the photos.
It arrived safely and in what I learned was standard RM time.
