Chiding other members is UNACCEPTABLE in a public forum

Several of us do not spend our lives on this board. We are all human beings. Every once in a while, someone will violate the protocol of the board. I am sure that everyoine on this board has made at least one mistake at some point in their life.

If you have a problem with something, PM THEM!!! If that gets you nowhere, contact an administrator. This ridiculous method of vigilante policing by placing posts with SPAM containers for example is juvenille and uncalled for. I do not care if you are just kidding, because it is the same as flaming someone.

You are dealing with peoples' reputations here, regardless of your hobby involvement. Perhaps posts like this can bring more of a semblance of civility and integrity to the board. I have found my participation here to be very refreshing and a tremendous addition to my numismatic involvement. I am sure that all of you feel the same way.

Once again, thanks for your time.

I'm not sure what you talking about. What incident caused you to make this post? Do you have a link?

Yes, I agree. I think that people who put blatant spam up here should be chided ... There is no reason to have to put up with that. And quite often the monitor gets them anyway.

Ahhh... MOST people on this forum are nice, and MOST people that I have met on this forum in person were also a pleasure.

But there's always some idiots who are keyboard warriors, and they know who they are. What's funny, is, I have met 2 people who have taken me to task on this board in person... and oddly enough neither of them were quite so tough or smart alecky on the bourse floor to my face.

    Shocking, isn't it? image

It's always the people who have mouths/typing fingers who write checks that their backsides can't cash.

I do think new or newly active posters should get a friendly warning before being chided. Maybe we need an escalation system...friendly warning, stern warning, chiding. image

I like that idea, actually! No more chiding people for purchases, either. No more modern bashing!

Ebay-ers have feelings, too, so we should stop snarking on their auctions. Counterfeiters have families to feed, so we should stop trying to get their auctions cancelled. image

Some people come here with axes to grind. Sometimes they are just pushing a special coin that they like for no personal gain. Other times they are out to pump up their wallets. When it is the latter, and they are not being totally truthful, I think we have a duty to dull those ax blades. image

AN EXCELLENT COMMENT!!! That was the whole tenor of the post; that what I did was no better than what others do. The whole underlying point was this kind of comment not only accomplishes zero, it just ticks people off as you so aptly expressed in the 20-or-so replies.

I could not agree more than when there is blantant spam with obvious malicious intent, or bad eBay deals, counterfeits, etc. that is open season for ripping someone a new (expletive).

Have a good day. It's starting to sleet her in NJ.

  • I think the chiders should be chided for chiding those they felt should be chided... and then those that chided the chiders should also be chided for chiding the chiders who felt those that they chided deserved to be chided... and on and on until SM1 or DW come on and chide all of us for all this chiding around...

so now, with all this sleet and freezing rain here in NJ... I am about to go outside and chide around... and hope I don't fall on my chided butt...

and chiding someone for chiding is also unacceptable...

it is also unacceptable for me to be chiding you for chiding someone who chided everyone regarding folks who chide other folks...

so we are ALL unacceptable... no sticker or + for any of us...
