I am very happy that this arrived today....1974-75 Topps Hockey Vending Box!!
I wanted to buy a nice set, but couldn't resist a price drop for this box on ebay - about the cost of two nicer sets @$400, and it should yield just about that. Looks primo.
Anyway, I'll be getting started in about an hour.

I must get a box like that someday. Possibly even Hockey, as I don't know anything about Hockey players besides Gretzky, I would need to research who the heck each player is after examining each card. THAT to me is fun. I know there is/was a recent player named 'Satan' so I'd have that going for me if I went modern.
thanks for the idea man and enjoy the coolness of the box break. Can't wait to see the cards.
<< <i>WOW, what a pretty site, a virgin vending box. Not like those pieces of &*$# collect.com auctions off. >>
Believe it or not, that is where this one originated (aug 2009). Was a little nervous about that, buying vending on ebay in general, and from a Pennsylvania seller too (no offense to my friends in PA). The seller bought it from collect.com.
Scans coming soon. It is a nice box....

Let us know how you made out on making your set.
I really like those all-star cards and that Clarke A.S. is really nice
I especially liked what it says on the reverse of Orr's card - I'd say that about sums it up concerning Orr!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

What do 74/75 vending boxes normally sell for?

No offense taken. I think I know (not personally) to whom you are referring.
I would be interested in purchasing any Flyers if you have any extra to sell.
thanks,
Bob

<< <i>Thanks guys -- a few more for the "maybe pile"... and the bad haircut club: >>
I'm seriously considering burning all the pictures of me from that era. I guess at least I HAD hair back then!
I always wondered why they didn't put more effort into getting pics of players on ice, preferably in action but even on ice before or after a game or practice. A high percentage of 70's hockey was shot against blue screens and in this case, the wood-grained paneling. That, combined with poor lighting, surreal airbrushing, and the sporty hairstyles is a big part of the vintage hockey card charm!
Thanks!!
