Mark Feld Interview

I had the pleasure of interviewing Mark Feld for the Numismatic Hub.

Its actually quite interesting, as Mark provides some good insight of the hobby.

You can read it at www.numismatichub.com

A fun read. He told it "as it really was" as a grader. I think those insights are most interesting.

Nice, but far too short an interview. Wanted more.

Right (sometime wrong), Mark calls it as he sees it. His opinions are based on experience both in numismatics and human nature.

I think Mr. Feld could have let the cat out of the bag .........

and declared to the world that Franklin's are his # 1 favorite series !

While I'm not personally acquainted with Mark, I've seen his replies, and this is a man who isn't afraid to be forthcoming with his knowledge, experience and opinions. Laxmaster92, this interview really was too short, you could have probed him better. Please don't take that as an insult to you. Rather, take it as a compliment to Mark.

Next interview, can you ask him why he uses Julians avatar on his website?

Mark Feld is one of my favorite dealers, and is in my circle of trust. Two more board members in that circle are Rick Snow and Charmy " The PennyLady " Harker :-)

    Good, but short interview.

Edited to add Todd @ BlueCC and Larry " SeaEagleCoins "

<< <i>Next interview, can you ask him why he uses Julians avatar on his website? >>

No additional interview is required for you to have that question answered. I don't use Julian's avatar on my website. The two coins are very different - take another look.

Thanks to Axmaster92 for being the extremely courteous gentleman he was in asking me to do and conducting the interview.

Biggest surprise of the interview, for me, was learning that you had gone to law school and passed the bar exam! image

You're a lawyer. I'm surprised that you didn't mention that on your biography on your website.

That was fun to read. I can only imagine what it would be like to here a group of graders arguing about a coin.

Interesting, but that guy would never make an investigative reporter. He didnt even ask about the PCGS lawsuit.

The only thing better than an interview with Mr Feld is having him as a friend behind the scenes.
He's one guy I always could count on regarding numismatics.

If I compiled a list of the top 20 influential guys on the boards, he'd be among them. A few banned members would be on the list, too.

    1) He's been there: knows the coins, knows the players, knows the system (including its faults and traps).

    2) He's one of the most ethical players himself. And refreshingly honest (as opposed to self-serving).

    3) Is open to new information from anyone.

    4) Even dealers who disagree with him on many issues listen to him because of 1, 2 and 3

    5) The interview may have been too short, but to expand on any of those points could be quite overwhelming to those relatively new to the hobby. Remember the audience for the interview.

It was meant to be a short interview for a YN run website, not an article for the NY Times, just saying
