I guess. Just dont keep the metal can where it can rust. I have seen coins with rust marks that wont come off. The SBD is metal and most safes are metal so it must be okay. better than wood or paper.

Please allow me to suggest the Apmex popcorn tins, but only of course after the contents have been consumed or removed.

Last time I checked metal was good - anodized aluminum was best.

Depends on objective and storage conditions. If you use metal tins (many of which have a finish applied internally) I would suggest using some dehumidifier packets inside. Cheers, RickO

Perhaps rinsing out the container would help some. I had a problem a few years ago with butter cookies. No rinsing and subsequent evaporation led to altered surfaces. Stable and consistent temperature control won't hurt either.

Actually, I still have that problem with butter cookies, especially this time of year.

Yes they are about the right size to be easily carted away. image

Get a safe. If they are common, roll them. If they are "collectable" i.e., better grades and dates, put them in 2x2s and mark them as to date/mint/grade and value and a date you valued them, or put them in a newer Dansco if you have enough variety. The ones worth more than a few hundred dollars should be graded and kept in the safe as well. It is not just about you when you "collect." you have to think about those that may be left dealing with it when you are gone. I have bought many collections over the years, and so I share this from real world experience. He is the truth: It is a rare dealer that can take the time to go through a whole bunch of Tin Cans of coins and do the work you should have done and not charge for it. It is what some collectors expect, but is not reasonable.
