to overwhelm the more humanistic impulses of the human soul. What still amazes me, is how many people
overcome their own sense of greed and contribute their time, wealth and caring, solely for the common good.
Perhaps the common mantra should be "Do as much good for humanity, as best you can, for as long as you can".

just last night i was visiting a friend, a guy i admire because he tends to be a minimalist to an even greater degree than me. among other things that were bandied about was the way that so many in America have so much and give so little if considered from a percentage standpoint. even a man such as Bill Gates who is noted for his benevolence donates what is the equivalent of $100 for someone like me and he ends up all over the news. i certainly don't begrudge anyone for what they are able to earn in our economic structure, i guess i just understand what the need for having so much is all about; GREED, the simple fear of needing to have so much so that there is never an end to what one has.
sometimes i think the only reason that America goes to war so often-----or should i say has been at war since we began our existence as a sovereign Nation-----is because We don't want someone else to profit where we might be able to.
sorry to rant on, but this time of year, the Season if you will, aggravates me somewhat. i can never understand why people feel compelled to act for about 3-4 weeks the way they should act the entire year. the thought you began the thread with shouldn't be on our minds now, they should be in our Hearts 24/7, 365.
