Toning just seems a bit off...esp on the reverse.

    I think you should make a query to the seller via the ebay "ask a question" function and ask if he knows whether the coin has been mistreated in any way.

    I like the coin. I'm guessing Russ had a tough time getting the color and the luster in the same image.

    I thought he was all into carnival glass and knick-knacks now.

    the coin could have been in slab for 25 years now


    may have had some change since slabbing, doubt if was quick gassed

    but I am no expert on this - other forum members have more experience with this

    The pattern of the reverse toning seems to indicate that the coin was stored in some type of tab holder. I don't think anything intentional was done to it.

    If gassed the reverse should have toned as well, and Russ is the MAN.

    Looks NT, but its eye appeal is questionable.

    I'm in to anything, (legal), that turns a profit.

    The coin has not been messed with after slabbing, at least not by me or the previous owner, although I can understand why some might make that assumption.

    A number of us happen to think it looks NT. Please explain the pattern of the reverse toning, if you believe it is other than some type of tab toning. Thank you.

    Mark, when I made my first comment, you chose to read it as meaning that I thought it wasn't NT. Technically, there are many reasons why a coin might not slab. Now with all of that said......it still sure wouldn't slab at PCGS today. Merry Christmas!

    I didn't read your comment that way. I read it the way you have stated it - as if it is a fact that PCGS would not slab it today. And that is silly. Merry Christmas.
