I just took a minute to read up on the guestbook entries. Noticed a lot of familiar names. It's good to see so many people care.

When I was setting up at shows, Cameron was a familiar sight. He was so enthused about sample slabs, toned coins and moderns. When he got his job at ICG, I was happy for him. After that, whenever I showed him a coin, it was obvious his confidence, experience and knowledge increased greatly. I later heard he was a grading instructor at the ANA Summer seminar. Good for you, Cam.
I will remember his as a nice guy, enthusiastic numismatist and unfortunately, as a friend who lefts us far too soon. My condolences to his family, my prayers and thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
I just returned from South America, wanted to check the boards before going to bed, and found this thread.
A friend with whom I ran hanged himself in 1998. His wife found his lifeless body hanging from a tree in their backyard. Apparently like Cameron, no one had any idea that Luis was having such a difficult go of life. It's so frustrating. Cameron was a very likeable guy, like Luis.
If either of them was willing to speak about their troubles, any of the many people who cared for either of them would have said something to the effect that they loved / cared for him, and that one's troubles in life are almost always temporary, but that their love / caring / concern for Luis / Cameron was always there.
The most unkind cut of all is a parent having to bury his / her child.

As an ER nurse, look at my byline. Today marks the 2nd aniversary of my Dad's death from Leukemia, very shortly diagnosed. But, I don't want to blame the MD's and/or their staff. After reading this, I am in unbearable tears for what has happened. It should have NOT happened to such a beautiful/experienced young man with a family. This witth my dad and other factors realy makes me wonder if the other side isn't as bad as many think. Cameron and my Dad are at peace. I am awaiting a divorce setlement where my ex is STEALING ALL of the marital home assetts for which I have NO control. I wish the best for the Keifer Family. Here inDE, we had a HUGE funeral for a falen comarade where about 10,000 people from all other states showed up. I hope the same for Cameron's family, as he died in the line of duty. God rest his sole and protect his family.
You only live life once, enjoy it like it's your last day. It just MIGHT be!
Like many of you, I first met Cameron though this message board. I talked to him many times via PMs, telephone, and in-person at shows- even went out to dinner a few times. Every interaction I had with him, chatting or selling/buying was positive- I had not talked to him since last summer, and was just getting ready to contact him about FUN. What happened was a total shock, I never had any indication something like this would have happened to him. RIP Cameron
<< <i>This is horrible. I was 30 minutes from mailing him a $1200 check for some silver until I seen the no item thread.
How should the people who are out of cash feel? Mad? sad?
Prayers to his family. >>
I would personally feel Mad for my personal loss and Sad for his families personal loss. But I would soon realize and understand that I could recover my loss through investment/work/etc. but that his family could never recover from his loss.
My deepest condolences to his family. Looking at my PM history, our conversations and first trade goes back to Sep/12/2001, since then we had many conversation on the forums and at one time met at a coin show.
I have to admit, I have always been envious of Cameron. When I was a child, I aspired to be a Police Officer and to have the numismatic knowledge that Cameron possessed was inspirational to say the least. My frequent deployments and field time kept me from the same passion that Cameron and I shared, thankfully he found the time to enjoy what he loved.
Tomorrow, my Family and I will take a moment of silence to reflect on this situation and say a prayer for Cameron and his family.
Piecesofme, shame on you for you that. Give yourself a resting period before you type on this thread for a night, you are not winning any friends by those comments you made earlier either.
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS, not just the part you want to hear and analyze something into it that isnt there. Thank you.
Can someone please take the time to pm me and please tell me what I said that was so inappropriate? I sincerely mean this. Posting in this thread really doesnt do it justice to what it really is about and is why i'm asking for you to pm me. I did apologize for expressing my admitedly blunt emotions I had at the time if those of you who dont read whole posts's recall. Maybe it was the timing of when posted, but I have to be honest and say that i feel the same way for the most part a day later now...and I have received apx. 30 pm's from different 13 different people that say they agree with me and that it took "nads" for me to say that and repsect me for doing so. So I ask again, please pm me why you feel I did something so horribly wrong in your eyes. This thread isnt about me, or do I want the attention to be taken off of what is truly a tragic event for Camerons family & friends. So please keep that in mind and respect that before you blast me on a thread that shouldnt. Someone will probably start up a hate thread about me, but what will that prove, not to metion that it would surely be taken down at some point. So take the time to pm me so I can learn from what I may have done that you feel was inappropriate. I sincerely am asking this request because it means something to me to try and figure this out so I can see it from another point of view and become a better person for it. Peace to all and to all a good night. Merry Christmas!
To forgive is to free a prisoner, and to discover that prisoner was you.
Very sad and tragic all around...although I only had limited dealings with Cameron, I'll remember him and his family at Christmas mass later this morning.
Although I've never had the chance to meet Cameron in person, as I live in the UK, I always looked up to his numismatic knowledge and enjoyed reading what he wrote.
He was a very well respected man and will be sorely missed.
I have never met Cameron or read any of his posts. Neverthless, reading the kind words emphasizes the loss. It is a real tragedy especially given his young children and wife.
I also view the community's loss in the death of a younger member who embraced the task of introducing the hobby to future generations.
Education is key, beyond the financial aspects of the hobby to ensure expansion of the collector community at a young age. Cameron seemed to have been a personable educator.

Has the coroner's office made a finding yet on the cause of death? I believe in cases like this they're required to make such a finding. I'm just wondering whether the coroner's office is satisfied letting this go at a suicide.
This is very heartbreaking news. I hope that everyone will continue to have respect for the family in their time of need. I am very saddened by this news even tho I only knew 'Cammie' from the forums here, and never met him in person. He was such a sweet guy, and so very smart.
We have lost 3 young men in our family over the past 4 yrs..... My husband lost his only son - about Cammie's age, to a tragic accident last year just before Christmas. It is a horrible thing for everyone - family, friends, aquaintences. Also, my brother lost his youngest son, age 23, almost 3 yrs. ago to another tragic accident. Also, my husband's daughter lost her husband (3 small children) just before her brother died.......The horror of the waste of such precious young life of fine young men is overwhelming to me, and this hits just too close to home, and breaks my heart. All 3 of ours were just tragic accidents, but enough to alter many lives for many years to come.
RIP Cammie, and my heartfelt condolences to the family. They will need, and I am sure - receive -- MUCH, much support over the years to come. The first year will be the hardest for them, as they must go through all of the seasons without their precious loved one.
My prayers go out to his wife and children especially - and to his parents and extended family and close friends. A very tough time for everyone. I am just so very sad.

This whole thing seems to be a case of a good man who drowned financially, could not live with the guilt and the fact his reputation that obviously meant so much to him was ruined. I do not think for one second that Cam ever intended to rip off anyone. Anyone that knows him I think would agree. If he was a crook or didnt have a conscience he would probably still be with us. Things happen to good people...to those who lost money, I think that if you look hard enough you will see that the man paid you all back with the last thing he had left. And its a damn shame.
