My Double Eagle Type Set Plan...any thoughts?

For my type set I came up with this

Type I: New Orleans Mint
Type II: San Fran Mint
Type III: Carson City
Extra: 1905 Phili

This way I obtain all the mints at the same time. Any thoughts?

    Great idea!
Would look great in an NGC multi coin holder. Too bad starting next year they will only offer them for bulk orders.
All coins kept in bank vaults.

Sounds like a great plan. Take it one step further and get a 23-D Saint.

I would think a true type set would require an 1849. image

It sounds like a great idea if you have the resources to do it. I've toyed with the idea of an "all mints" $20 gold set, but I buy gold coins in the range from AU-50 to MS-64, and the New Orleans coin offers a big hill to climb if that's your goal.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Big plan. This would be a hell of a nice arrangement, though, if you could get these together like that.

This is my plan at the moment...its really tough to find a nice 1905 in the AU range.

I think it is a great plan. You will have an example of each of the three major types and from each of the mints (except Denver which only minted coins during the last 2 years of the series). I like the 1905 Philly, but you might also consider the 1890, which has a similar low mintage and low population, but is obtainable in MS62 for a much smaller premium. The 1889 is another low mintage, underappreciated issue to consider.
