$1 gold folks: too damaged to slab?

Got this on the cheap yesterday from my dealer. My only example of a $1 gold piece.
It's got beautiful luster and what looks like a pretty decent strike (obverse anyway). A couple of small rim bumps, and a nick on either side.
The reeding seems to be fine, and there is no evidence of ex-jewelry. So three questions:
Is it real?
Do the dings and nicks make it unslabbable by everyone, or is this acceptable by anyone?
Opinions of grade (even if only net)?

Only thing Im not really liking is the pretty big hit on the cheek. It looks in the low AU range.
There is a lot going on.

Nice. It may not slab with a grade but it would at least come home in a Genuine holder,imho.
