Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>That's exactly what I'm in the process of doing right now. >>
Got anything good for sale?
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I am going to jump into chinese silver crowns but am in awe of the competition
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Soon. Might need to define good, though. hahaha I was mostly a Morgan collector.
<< <i>No, but I've thought of selling off most of it and starting over
I've actually done this. I don't regret it one bit.

<< <i>I already did it once. I stopped actively collecting in 1986, and sold my collection about 1989 or 1990. I wish I hadn't, because I started collecting again in 1999. -Preussen >>
Same here! Almost the same dates/timeframes too! Scary.
Sold all my coins back in '89 and started collecting antique Winchester lever action rifles. The guns got sold around 2002/03 while preparing for the move to Australia (didn't want to deal with the paperwork and severely restrictive gun laws here) and started collecting coins again.
Sure wish I had my original collection back, I couldn't afford to replace it today.
<< <i>Yes I have. It's on my mind a lot right now since I just turned 62. I have no one to leave it to and have no one that is interested in my collection so why go to the "Great Bourse in the Sky" and just leave it up for grabs. I have put a lot of time, love, and money into the collection in the last 15 years and would hate to know it fell into the hands of someone that knows nothing about coins.

You could leave it to me, I'm interested!
It's my hobby.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
<< <i>I have thought of selling, but not walking away. I often wonder what the hobby would feel like without owning any coins------------------------BigE >>
i did exactly that. sold all my gold coins and used the money elsewhere. i kept
a lowball coin, horded wheat pennies, misc silver coins (bullion), and other things
that did not require security to keep.
but i stayed in the hobby. in the sense of reading these forums, checking out
ebay/heritage/stacks/etc... when i am in the mood but i am not buying anything.
it was just getting too expensive. buy a coin, look at it for a few weeks, and then
toss it into the safety deposit box to sit. not exactly fun after a while. everything
i wanted just kept going up in cost and i decided i wanted out because i knew
i did not have whale money and the coin money was better spent somewhere else.
Plus this hobby seemed to revolve around getting a "fix" every once in a
while... "fix" meaning buying a coin or it got "boring".
i get all the action (except owning physical coins) but feel no need to "buy stuff".
plus there is no stress. now it feels like a real hobby.
That sounds like something a golfer would do??
I think every collector may come to a point where
they may want to sell so there familys are not burdened with the process. I guess anyone can get burned out on anything
but I just put my stuff in the safe and work on one of my other projects when I get frustrated.

This is a really interesting perspective. Thank you for sharing it. You've given me something to think about.

1st time whole collection stolen, to crushed to start again. 2nd was a self imposed break that lasted 5 years.

This is exactly why I am selling now. Walk completely away. Probably not. I can't stop buying stuff.
