Great idea... Does PCGS have one of these?

    Next if not already, scan the bar code on the slab.

    Just go to pcgs.com and type in the cert on the verify link. Though today the cert means nothing as the cert are counterfeited just as easily as the slab.
    may the fonz be with you...always...

    Yes. Visit PCGS.com from your phone.

    I've never been able to figure out how to scan the barcodes with my phone on the PCGS site... any insight?

    Joke #1 The one on the left has a lot of miles.

    Joke #2 Is that a Seated or a Bust?
    There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

    Depends. Obverse or reverse?

    There is at least one "genuine" (damaged?) in the group. image

    image "The Full Throttle Salon" I believe that is 'saloon', not salon... image Although it would appear that the ladies have all recently attended a 'salon'. Cheers, RickO

    The difference is ATS the cert verification include a picture of the coin if it was slabbed in the past couple years!!
    It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    In March of this year, I flew to New York
    to give a deposition for a very large coin
    fraud case (hasn't come to trial yet);

    One of the coins the 'bad dealer' sold to
    a party was a badly polished Stella, placed
    into a Coin World plastic slab, with the
    the bottom of an NGC MS-64 tag placed in
    the CW holder. (I was shown a color copy
    of the holder, etc., not the actual coin).

    I told the lawyers that "First of all, Stellas
    are all Proofs, so the MS-64 tag is bogus";
    I then used the NGC app. on my Iphone to
    punch in the serial number of that tag, and
    within 2 seconds, the info showed on my
    phone that the MS-64 tag was for an 1882-O
    Morgan Dollar.

    I was VERY impressed with this use of the app.

    That is a very valuable feature.

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    While they don't have an app for it yet, you can logon to the mobile site and go to cert verification and voila!!
