The Eagle has landed - Got lucky

Seen a bunch of unhappy collectors regarding the 2010 Silver Proof Eagles lately. I just received the 5 that I ordered and 4 look amazing. Number 5 has one tiny tiny tiny dot in the field on the obverse on the right side of the coin.

And again I'm in a bind for a birthday present so guess what? Coin number 5 becomes the present.

All in all I'm way more than pleased with the quality of these coins. But I don't flip at all much less flip hoping for PR70's. I just enjoy the beauty of the coin and I leave them in their original packaging.

American Silver Eagle is the best looking coin currently minted in my opinion.

If you guys think the quality at the mint is bad wait if they actually freeze Federal Employee pay for two years like they are talking about. (I'm a Federal Employee and am entitled to slip one shot in there).

I think there's a lot of confusion about grading moderns. I haven't seen a photo of this rumored horrible quality yet. Jerry

    Glad you like them John.
    Can't wait to get mine.
I bet you that your 'tiny tiny tiny dot' would have caused some members to go suck on a gas pipe.

I wonder if the people saying of the 100's they ordered that are low quality, are actually the ones selling the PR70's on eBay by presale. Knowing there's are actually nice quality and trying to spread fear to people to pay the high prices for these perfect coins?

Interesting thought. I think the displeasure comes from being on the edge of 69/70. To me that doesn't even count. But it would count if I presold a bunch of 70's. Personally I think that's all kinds of wrong. You either have that 70 in your possession or it shouldn't be for sale.

It wouldn't be the first time this has been pulled. It's called forum hype.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I personally think the mint should do away with returns on bullion items and that includes proofs. except in cases of absolute damage to the coin or packaging. The mint makes no guarentees that the coin will be completely and utterly mark free.

Still waiting for mine. That being said, I have only once received a proof ASE that had a scratch in the obverse field. I did return that one. It was very obvious, no magnification needed. It was promptly replaced. Cheers, RickO
