New Commem - Grade opinions? GRADE IN

cheezhedcheezhed Posts: 6,317 ✭✭✭✭✭
Currently raw but I'm sending it in:

3 1 18655739 9281 1925-S 50C California US Genuine (97 - Environmental Damage)

Disappointing, I think they were questioning some milky, hazy spots on the coin.

Congratulations to anyone who can provide a meaningful grade guess, based on those images. image Between the darker toned areas, and the light, bright areas, I'm unable to get a decent look at the surfaces.

Mark, You're right. Sometimes they say "guess the grade" and you don't even need a photo for that but the OP wants a real opinion. --Jerry

If not for the tarnish, that is a beautiful coin. Cheers, RickO
  • Looks like a beautiful coin................even with the tarnish!

My guess is 66. Good luck!

One of my favorite designs. Hard to guess the grade from the pics but it looks nice.

The blue toning is so bright, it does not look right to me, but it might be just how it appears in the picture.

The spots you described are fairly common on that issue.

Hmnn, then I don't know what they are seeing, I'll have to take another look when it comes back.

They must feel the darker areas of toning ate into the coin, oh well---------BigE

judging only from the pictures it has the "look" of a coin that's been rinsed/wiped with MS70.

The images make it hard to get a good look at the surfaces, but from what I can see, it looks to have the typical strong luster and color frequently associated with that issue. Even the reference to milky, hazy spots isn't particularly unusual - they are often seen at portions of the peripheries. But I don't see any evidence that it was rinsed/wiped with MS70 or anything else.
  • Hard to say, 66? Very pretty! The toning looks like it had just started but looks like the pattern you see on them frequently.
