Dino-Lite Microscope Camera - Have any pix you can share?

I'm thinking I'll be needing a means of taking good quality pix of some coins I'd like to offer for sale. The key, I'm sure, is having as fine an image as can be had, but I don't have a huge budget.

The Dino-Lite's I've read about in other threads don't have pix which show just what this little workhorse can do, and before I sink anything into the photography hobby, I'd sure like to see some examples of coins taken with it.

If you can post any, include the details of the model, and any set-up tips you feel would be helpful -

Thanks to all! image

I also have a 410 and it's great. If you ever want to tell if a coin is Doubled die or machine doubling, this is the tool. Also, when selling, it enhances the details of the coin greatly. Sorry, I don't have any pix at hand, but I love this thing!!!!......Rick

Thanks, everyone... it's the 411 now, and appears to be the way to go.

They have some images on the website, so looks like it'll do exactly what I want it to.

    Appreciate your comments

Here's a bunch of pictures of a highly polished 1880 reverse die-clashed VAM-?. These images were captured with the Dino-Lite "DIGITAL MICROSCOPE" AM411T. You need to appreciate that the Dino-Lite cameras are DIGITAL MICROSCOPES and as such are not designed to capture full coin images (unless your target is a trime or half-dime). The following images were taken with the Dino-Lite AM411T in effort to attribute the VAM variety. Of which, this coin remains elusive! image

    Hmmm...

The close-ups are nice, but I'd want to work with quarters to dollars as well...

The Dino-Lite is a great digital microspe for closeups. Not a bad investment, INHO. But if you want ot pursue coin-photography on a non-micro level, then you need to consider Pentax, Canon, Nikon models. Canon and Nikon are considered the top of the class. Personally, I use a Canon Rebel xSi but Nikon users may suggest a model that appeals to their brand loyalty.

You should do a search on coin photography on these boards and read everything you can, assimilate the pertinent points and then hone your kngraphyowledge and further narrow your decision to specific models. All the way keeping in mind that digital SLRs are not equivalent to digital Microscopes.

As for me, I own one of each. If this is your first foray into digital photography, you should consider your goals first. A good DSLR can give you some great macro images. But if you intend to capture micro-deatails, such as VAM attributes then you should consider the Dine-Lite brand.

    Cheers!

    And there-in lies my decision...

Photographing the minute details - at this point, and for my current purpose - is not my objective.

I simply want to produce detailed enough pix that will offer the level of quality and detail someone on ebay, for example, would consider typical for the venue.

I do have a digital non-SLR that is capable of macro photog., but haven't mastered it, and am not certain the pix are of high enough quality.

Time to do some searching... thanks again!

I have one, but I find the lighting to be a real challenge. It's easy to photo raw coins, but slabbed pieces are bears because the built-in lights reflect off the plastic. For close-up work it's great, but for me raw coins and tokens work; slabs drive me crazy.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
