I'd just like to put in reference to what I said earlier about holding ID's and whatnot, it did require me to get "TWV" Which is trustwho verified, basically you pay a few dollars to go through a verification process so people know you are who you say you are.
Hey Sean, why don't you do the honorable thing and just withdraw your name. As you can obviosly see and has been explained to you 10 different ways, we don't know you and speaking for myself you aren't going to running something like this with me involved. Now somebody who has a track record here, then we'll talk.
But if you are for real, and want to become part of this community, then back off with dignity and grace!!!
my .02
Thanks
Neil
Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
Just tell everyone to "stick it" and be done with it sometimes it does truly seem that no good deed goes unpunished.
Several on the board have been burned including me with people pretending to be dead (yes, that actually happened), people stealing cards, people stealing money, people selling searched wax packs, etc., that many here don't have a trust level for newcomers. I live my business life being very cynical as I'm an auditor, however, for my hobby life, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, to treat it like my business life, would be taking the fun out of it. Too bad there's so much cynicism on this board, but a rational person can't blame the board too much if you've seen what's taken place.
BTW, thanks for offering to organize the exchange, I'm participating over on cardboardtalk, otherwise I'd get in one run by you without hesitation.
I am fairly new here too, and would never think to organize something like this, but would love to take part if it is a go.
I have sent members items free for their collections in the past and have also taken part in box buys without any problems. Not to mention the bst forum.
Take part if you want to give and go from there.
This just seems like a another fun way to enjoy the hobby & the Holidays.
Thanks to anyone that takes this on. Craig aka "Crazylegs"
<< <i>I think I'm just kind of furious you just outright called me a thief. >>
I guess you are referring to me. No, I did not call you a thief and if that is what I meant, I would have said such.
I do fail to see how you don't get we as a group were not comfortable with a newbie running it, and why you want to keep pushing it. This is a very simple matter. No need to keep getting mad and having to go back and edit your messages.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I'm not pushing anything... There are a slightly higher number who (actually who you and others) believed wouldn't be comfortable, and there are a few people who said they have no problems.
And when you link several things I've said and say "if that is not a flag I don't know what is" in my books that's basically saying you are accusing me of whatever was said.

I did not link several things together, I did agree it was a flag, and your two statements don't go together, which means they are a flag.
Now, none of this matters as myself and many others would never join with a newbie and there is someone leading this now. That being known, why you want to keep pushing and pushing at this, and yes you are, is strange. Have you ever fought someone into trusting you before?
Now I don't even know what your multiple blow up messages have been as you keep editing yourself. Which guess what...is another flag.

Don't let it get to you. There are a couple red flags (post count/when you joined) but IMO that is not enough for ME to find you untrustworthy, but I can certainly see why others are not receptive to it.
Some people have been burned by simply giving their address to someone. All kinds of bad mail starts arriving in their mailboxes.
Or, as I sat there arguing with gecko, I either said something I didn't want to say, or I'm preventing double/triple posts.
I'm not arguing for the fact to volunteer for it anymore, obviously because someone has. I'm arguing for the fact that you are basing everything you seem to infer off of my join date and post count.
If you really must know I deal with online video game accounts, and would not consider that a job- and that is what I keep ID's and certain information for (I edited this out earlier)
*Edit so I don't double post* I'm going to drop it, I'll be here to volunteer next year
There is another issue with newbies here - a new poster may be an alt of someone banned for misbehavior. Even if someone was banned for reasons having nothing to do with trustworthiness, a discovered alt account of a banned member will be banned. That would be a disaster for the exchange.
After reading the past few pages of this thread, I do believe I felt on page three the odd sensation of my Christmas spirit being forcefully removed. To think it isn't even Thanksgiving...
Sean, thanks for offering. After reading the thread heading, I was really looking forward to participating in some sort of Christmas exchange, but now, since I am sure no "real" board members would accept my inclusion maybe all of us evil low post count, would be identity thief newcomers can have a separate black sheep Christmas exchange. That way all of the worst things in the online and real world can happen only to us this Christmas.

Exactly, I only know of only exclusion in joining.
Even with the dozen or so reasons given, here is another. How is new person going to know what people have problems with other board members? Some board members do not really like each other I think all of us would agree. A new person is not going to know any past.

There are a few people I've spat with here, but I would gladly secret santa with them. Anybody who would hold grudges during this event shoudln't participate to begin with.

I agree as well, but the fact is there is history on the board. It is always best to avoid potential problems when possible.
