    I vote no

much more work for all involved

my membership has not always been continuous - I frequently let it go expired for a few months maybe a year
-unless I have a submission (or want to go to a members only event like in Vegas),
I see no overwelming reason to renew when current one expires

when doing business with a person that has been a member of these boards for less than a couple of months
I would cover may rear - or say no

If they send me a check, I will wait 3 weeks to be fairly sure it clears

if they have a hidden profile, I will pass

Both bought and sold. No issues or problems here. If you're new just be a bit patient and respectful and you will gain the trust too.

Most of the recent challenges that have come up regarding missing shipments and bad checks have been outside the BST.

These boards have been a wonderful resource for a lot of people and in the past we seem to have done a decent job for the most part policing it ourselves. With each of us utilizing a bit of common sense I believe it can continue just fine the way it has been.

Our host has bee most gracious in having these message boards available. Let's contribute in a positive, respectful manner and keep our ongoing self watch so we can continue to participate, learn, teach and yes buy and sell here.

I'd rather get the "Stink-Eye" over there, than Here. I'm sure Charmy will "back" me on this.

<< <i>Looks like threads like this one will make BST
a unpopular place to do any business.
I have removed my listings as I have only around 400 posts
and have only been a member for less than a year.
With threads like this the chances of me doing anything
on BST are slim to none at this time.
So when I have a year under my belt and about 1000 posts
I will try again. You guys are shooting yourselfs in the foot if you ask me but I have not been around that long so what do I know?? >>

I don't know you Teva but I think you're over reacting.
I doubt if this or any other thread will dim the popularity of the BST.

Listing priviledges should be limited to members only. This would allow anyone else to purchase or sell to a "Wanted to Buy" listing.

All venues of selling items eventually attract the scammers. I'm surprised it hasn't been that bad with the BST. Just a matter of time.

Of course then you would NOT BE ALLOWED to present any kind of info that would enable non-members to contact you.

  • My policy is simple.. offer a coin,if someone purchases it send the coin insured, if they want to send the coin back refund their money less return shipping. It aint rocket science.
This isn't e-bay. I only offer coins that are too nice to sell to dealers at greysheet or less.

I used to frequent another coin forum and personally, I find BST to be far superior to anything I have found. I have purchased several to many coins from members of BST and they went into my Registry set (20th century type, circulation strikes, no gold..currently #7). I am a CC member and enjoy the benefits of that as well. I have collected on and off for more than 50 years(gasp....is that really possible?) and I appreciate BST and think it is best as is. Someone said earlier "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Successful transactions with: JimTyler, Morgan13, ChangeInHistory, LukeMarshall, Old_Collector, basets , MICHAELDIXON, Waverlycoins, dsessom, privatecoin, SurfinxHI, ZoidMeister, giorgioll, Lakesammman, Twobitcollector, Cazkaboom, Dscoin, Shrub68, CoinHunter4, Cladiator, coinbuf, Elkevvo, ChrisH82, WindyCity, Kccoin, NumisOxide, Meltdown, blaircountycoin, blue62vette, greencopper, Kliao, Downtown1974, BankerBob56, coinlieutenant, cucamongacoin, FranklinFactory, scooter25, erwindoc, bigjpst, and others.

My experience is that the forum has done a good job of policing itself. I have bought and sold quite a bit on the BST without a negative experience. I agree with other posters who have said there in nothing but aggrevation for our hosts if they chose to get in the middle of BST transactions...that certainly wouldn't be worth the ROI. We're lucky. We have a good place to buy and sell with other knowledgeable dealers/collectors and don't have to pay fees. Don't fix something that ain't broken...JMHO.

image........Yep,fine the way it is. Have been a CC member and at times have not but that should not limit my posting there. Is a good way to get more new/old CC members by active particapation in forums here. image

  • << <i>I prefer to bother PCGS as little as possible in the hopes that the forum stays around for a long time. If the BST cant be manages ourselves it will go away. If we bug PCGS to much all the forums go away. Why do we want to bother them more? >>

I've had over 50 smooth buy/sale transactions on the BST and will continue to use it with confidence. Don't mess with success.

I suspect that a % of forum members only partake in the BST forum, as such, they have a self serving interest in the status quo. No fees or commissions on conducting business there, along with free advertising of what's being sold on their eBay or place of business ... That's my take. BST should be eliminated, it has no place in a coin forum. ( Boy, am I gonna take some heat on that comment )

  • Wow, alot of dicussion on this topic. So many opinions and that is what makes this so great, Its a Forum so people can talk and I hear alot of talking here.

Buy,Sell, and Trade forum. I have done business on this forum for quite a few years and it has always been a good spot to stop in. Have met people here from all over the world and have traded with some from this country and others, I honestly cannot remember if I have ever been a paying member of PCGS . There has been scammers here at different times in the past and also in the not so distant past, but as ALL on this forum seem to look out for each other most scammers have not stayed very long as they found that when alot of honest and decent people come together, and stand together dishonesty will not florish.

I would not like to see the BST forum changed at all it is a wonderful place to buy and trade and also sell, well just my little opinion just a thought or two, must have been what was thought when these forums were designed just a thought or two.

For the Host of these forums thank you for having one of the most active and informative forums available on the web, have always enjoyed my time here and will continue to do so for a long time to come.
