W SILVER EAGLES ARE TAKING OFF IN PRICE

pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I have been watching the price of these coins and they are really going up fast. It is hard to find any listed for under $35 anymore without a high shipping fee.

Is it because the mint is not making any uncirculated coins this year?

    That is good news

hopefully the 2008 rev 2007 price will go back up.

One over looked option is the 2007 and 2008 uncirculated dollar sets.

They are still available on Ebay in $30-$35 range if you are patient.

The ones I see are in the $50 and up range.

Has anybody checked any of these sets for 08/07 reverse. I have 10 sets of these in their original cellophane wrapper and have not even opened the mint box yet.

On the annual sets check the completed items listings on Ebay.

There were numerous sales in $33 range over last 2 weeks though recent several dollar jump in silver prices may make them a thing of the past, at least for now.

Also consider you are getting $5 face in presidents/native american $1s.

No box or COA but if you are slabbing coins it still nets the ASE to $30 range.

I had two sets. I checked one two years ago. no reverse. so left the other one wrapped.

I've got lots of boxes and coa's but I think I am too late to get bargains on the coins.

Those 08/07's have got to be somewhere. The mint says 46,000 were made and nowhere near that amount has been accounted for. PCGS has only graded 3731 of them.

A lot of owners likely have no idea that they have them. Many are bought by non-collectors as bullion. One of my co-workers had nearly 30 of them. Had I not told him what he had he would have sold them as bullion.

I guess that is true but do you suppose some could be in those 6 coin sets?

I have about 80 of the 2007-Ws in PCGS MS69-FS. Maybe it is time to sell a few....

I didn't see any 07/08s in the Dollar sets that I opened. I thought the problem was fixed before those were issued, but I could be wrong.

    Happy hunting!
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

I'm not the closest follower of the series, but it seems to me that the spot price of silver is having an effect.

I opened 10 of my sets also but still have 10 sets unopened. I did not find any but there are still a lot of these 08/07's unaccounted for.

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I lucked out on the reverses. I got 5 right from the mint. Sold three two years ago for around $1500 total. Kept one raw and one was graded by PCGS as MS 69. Just got love the mint sometimes. They give out nice gifts to their customers.

I sold a 1st strike MS70 last week for $2195 that I got from the mint. I probably should have kept it but the old saying " a bird in the bush" comes to mind.

Not unless they are under a cow and you had better be ready to move if she does because that brown stuff stinks.
