Heritage question

First time bidding on heritage and it seems I have won the coin. In my bidding summary it comes up and says the winning bid was my final bid price. Now though the coin has seemed to disappeared from HAs site. It is no longer on the Tuesday auction listing and the link from my bids section says that the page cannot be found. Does this me I won and the coin is being shipped or that someone pulled the coin last minute?

If there is a way to locate it on HA it was a 1921 morgan struck through debris Anacs AU53.

Check your profile in the section called "My Collection" or "My Orders" if you find it there, then you won the coin. If you didn't then something happened and you didn't win the coin. It's happened to me before.
  • It's nowhere to be found on my page except in my bids. Hope I didn't lose my first win to some fluke

It sounds like you didn't win. If a floor bidder bid the same as you, his bid most likely went in first and he won. --Jerry

Ties typically go to internet bidders - floor bidders are forced to top the prior internet bids. Perhaps another internet bidder bid the winning amount first and/or higher than that.
  • My bid was $36 with a max of $50 and $50 was the winning Bid. I was looking at HA and saw the internet auction invoices can take a day so hopefully it is just in transition into invoice

The auction was accidentally ended early. It was reopened and will end tonight at its proper time. Having said that, I do not see a 1921 Morgan Struck Through currently listed. I'm sure Heritage can shed some light on this.

As Mark wrote, whoever bids first has priority. Ie., I put a $2K hammer bid on a coin at the last Heritage Signature sale via internet. Another internet bidder or a floor bidder would have to top that $2K hammer to top my bid. If the coin sold for the $2K hammer, it would be my coin.

I was caught in this also. I opened my invoices to find three coins that were still up for auction the next day. I called HA customer service and the said I was wrong and that the bidding closed for them on Sunday and that I had won. I tried to argue, but I OK and promptly paid the invoice. We'll see how they handle this.

do you have the lot # and sale date? It is easy to get to the bottom of this.
I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

I wish I had paid promptly like you did. I "won" 4 coins then Heritage found the mistake and reopened the auction.
  • Lot was 26511 and the sale was Sun/tues internet sale so I guess closing would be tonight?
  • Problem solved....just got an invoice and it actually only sold for $36
