I'm afraid she'll be just as ugly with the gunk removed.
Maybe you can prevent any further deterioration at least.

You could buy a can of copper metallic spray paint!
My results were noticeable, but it needs more time still in olive oil.

it remove oil and other contaminates that may react with your cleaner. You are not going to get good results what ever you do with that one.
