Perhaps the old price was artificially low to draw in subscribers?

Don't think of it as a 30% bump. Ask yourself if it's worth $12.95. Or $9.95 if you act now. Less, for the annual deal.

Ask yourself if it's worth supporting PCGS, who hosts this site on their own nickel.

I subscribe with no regrets. I use CoinFacts all the time. I wish they'd offer a lifetime rate.

My comment to the OP is the state of this Economy has NOTHING to do with YOUR desire to participate or not participate with Coin Facts. While many of us may be struggling the world goes on. The recession of 2007 thru 2009 ended officially in June, 2009. For some, the struggle to find work, pay bills, etc. will continue just has it has always been for some people. Meanwile, as David Hall now says, the coin market is doing great. And if you looked at the stock market today, it did great too. So, enjoy your coins, enjoy these forums, both of which are FREE to enjoy. And good luck.

    I think PCGS offers a lifetime lock-in on price/month.

    I agree, CoinFacts is great!

The state of the economy has nothing to do with it. If they aren't making enough money at $9.95...well then up goes the price until they either make money or cease making the product. Everyone thinks because jobs, homes, coins, and the stock market got hammered 2 yrs ago that everyone has to drop their prices accordingly across the board. It's not been happening and if anything prices will only go up to help make up for lost business. It's either that or close the doors. There will be some products and services that do go down however they will be more than offset by the goods and services that only go up in price.

Roadrunner makes an excellent point. The 'economy' has nothing to do with individual business practices, plans or strategies. Either take part or stay on the sidelines - it is your economic choice. Cheers, RickO

And on top of that, PCGS is basically a duopoly. As a shareholder, I would expect them to continue to raise prices and increase margins overall. I believe the Coinfacts "division" operates at a loss. I would hope they would raise prices to at least break even or discontinue the service. This is not a charity.

People that can't pay $9.95/month just kill me. They have money for cigarettes, beer, HBO, Cinemax, iPhones, new cars, big houses, but no money to pay $9.95/month.

If you have an education and a skill, the economy isn't that bad. If all you have is a high school education or less, you're screwed.

Couldn't agree with you more. Those who complain about a $3 price increase should realize they sometimes pay more for a gallon of gasoline.
