I now have some coins from Mongolia!
For a long time I refused to collect coins from Mongolia until their government
apologized for the war crimes committed under Ghengiz Khan.
However, I saw these two and had to have them:

Mongolia 1 Tugrik 1981 - Soviet-Mongolian Space Flight
Mongolian Cosmonaut Gurragchaa Jugderdemid flew on the Soviet Soyuz-39 on March 22, 1981

Mongolia 1 Tugrik 1984 - 60th Anniversary of Mongolian State Bank

I don't think they've apologized yet. They seem quite proud of him, and many Mongolians claim him as an ancestor.
I'm hungry.
They REVERE him in Mongolia...well, he is considered their founding father.

A funny thing on Gengiz Khan and Mongolia... after the commies took over they outlawed last names as a measure to break up clan affiliations. A few years back, the new Mongolia mandated everyone pick a last name. Since genealogy didn't transmit too well through the chaos of communist rule, many folks weren't sure of their family name. Now the clan name of the Khan - Borjigin - is one of the most common last names there

I've never seen such a disproportionate statue compared to the building that supports it. That is one bad taste composition alltogether with the car. I think that the warrior's statue would be better off on a simple podium.

Yeah, you're absolutely right, Dimitri.
You'd think they would have called one of us first, huh?

I actually rather like it - or at least the sense of utter and complete domination that it conveys. That guy and his horse made that building their b****. lol
The angle of the shot, which makes the building appear to be sinking under the statue's weight, adds to that sense.
