    That's cool, I didn't even know that existed. For the record I was talking about the 1860 half dime pattern. My favorite.

    Can they make 10,000 of something and it still be a pattern? (Nearly every reference I have seen to this calls it a pattern) Not a US issue, but at least depicting a US president. Same size and composition as US 90% silver half dollar.

    Crummy pics but spectacular looking aluminum patterns. They are CAC stickered now.

    Here is a pop 1 (in all grades) $20 aluminum die trial from 1872. J-1254.

    Also have a pop 1 $10 aluminum die trial from 1874. J 1380. Both are graded PCGS PR65.


    I will not allow these patterns to come out of these holders even for a trueview picture.

    I bought this pattern from Larry Hanks a few years back.

    By the way, it sold at Heritage in June 2004 for $11,500. I think I was given a fair price for this piece. It now satisfies my long time desire to own a "flowing hair" design. It is now stickered bt CAC.

    In fact, I like this more than the $4 Stella. Is that my imagination or wishful thinking?????

    Take a look at this pattern (engraved by William Barber) and compare it to the flowinghair $4 Stella of 1879 and 1880 (engraved by Charles Barber)!
