    Old cleaning, AU50 details, not sure from the photos if the remaining luster warrants a full AU50 grade though. Suspect a TPG grade of XF45 would be given.

    I don't want to call it AU because the obverse surfaces are a little too scruffy, there is little to no obverse luster, and there are slide marks on the rim. However, the head detail says AU all the way, and I see luster around the reverse rim. I say it would be rather loose to call this coin AU, due to the distractions, yet it is sharper than it needs to be for XF45. AU50 details, net XF45.

    I collect these and am not sure what grade it is. A rarity 5+ coin, especially in EF-AU, and expensive (to me). I do not see the kind of rub one would expect on an EF coin on the knee or breast. I'm guessing a high AU.

    i grade it ... YOU SUCK !! congrats on a SUPER ebay rip. to all of those that are "afraid of buying raw coins on ebay" yeah you should be, or you could end up with a sweet coin like this for $200
    regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

    I was not cleaned but was left outdoors for about a 100 in the California sands. I do think this coin should slab and suspect PCGS would grade it a 45 or 45+, it may grade a 50 because of the very strong head details. The strike is a bit uneven which looks like wear but is really weakness.

    Still the rip of the month so far.

    Did you leave it outside or was it a find? Either way, I like it and would venture a grade of 45-50. I think a short term carry in the pocket would help out those rims scuffs. Would look good in my Dansco as this is the grade range I am working on for the older classic coins.

    I will send it to PCGS next week along with a group of other coins so check back in about a month or so for a grade, if there is one.
