  Mmmmmmm.......looks more like a counterfeit British Halfpenny to me. These have become a very collectible area of late, but I collect them on a very limited basis. The reason to collect is that they heavily circulated in the British colonies. The reason not to collect is that they exist in massive quantities and while thousands have been imported to the US, there are still thousands more in the UK. Attribution systems are currently being developed for these coins, but the systems are constantly in flux. But a good rule of thumb is the cruder and more unusual the better and more valuable.
  
  Not my thing, but some love them and they can be had for a few hundred dollars each except the real crude ones.
