Price Guide Where are all the varieties ?

Ok so i am a newbie who was introduced to the type B quarters 1956 thru 1964 and the type C 1964 d I joined pcgs plantium membership so i could have the access to the price guide and the population report. It was always great to beable to see even the years they listed as far as price per grade, For the past 2 weeks this option has disappeared. I finally called there office today and was just told that there cleaning up there price guide and not going to include many minor varieties ? Ahhh I just spent 700 bucks on a cameo 67 superbird This is a minor varity ? I was also told that these coins are listed in coin facts ? When i bought my membership it included the price guide with all those prices. Now i have to buy the coin facts to see the coins that i bought? As a newbie i really liked being able to click on the plus to open up and see the prices of these varities Any one else feel like these don't belong in the price guide with the others ? Sure makes me wonder why ?

For Cents there are only about 10-15% of the varieties with any prices, so your not missing much.

Coin facts give populations but not much pricing on minor varieties.

Well i guess there is No Reason to send in the rest of my type B's for grading. This is making me rethink WHY collect varieties? And Maybe its time to sell off all this so called junk coins. If pcgs certifies a coin i truly think it should be in the price guide, we pay the money for grading and yet these are MINOR VARITIES? ........................................................................

You collect varieties because you enjoy it, not because you are out to make money.

I collect 19th century presidential campaign medalets, medals and tokens. Aside from some Civil War era tokens (And that guide has not been revised since the author's untimely death.) there are no price guides available. All we have are auction results and "seat of the pants" estimates from what I see offered at coin and political items shows.

It there a financial risk in doing this? Yes, just as there is with all hobby related collectables, but I'm having fun. In a general sense I know have done reasonably well financially since the market for these items has done well over the 20+ years I've been involved in it.

for many varieties they have so few graded that they can not possibly know what the values are (and would possibly be misleading)

the coinfacts special is good until the end of the month - $9.95/mo lifetime

it seems to me that many Washington variety collectors enjoy the hunt and buy unattributed or raw

and don't like paying for the coin attributed by PCGS

I am distressed to hear the type B's and 1964 D type C referred to as minor varieties. They are major varieties to me and will always be so.
Type B with its enhanced relief was used alongside the regular issues from 1937-1972. I think that is a record for a variant use.

Join the PCGS Registry and start a Washington Complete Varieties Set (1932-1964)

Prices and Population are still available under the WNAT IF function.

As for PCGSCOINFACTS, I'm getting a little tired of constantly having to LOGON despite selecting the "Remember Me" box. Either Fix it or get rid of the box!
