Couple of coins in my album developing haze? Added HUGE images.

Just wondering, has anyone experienced a similar problem? I have a great album-toned Franklin half that looks like it's got haze painted on. Is it possible a bad acetone bath or wash of some kind is to blame?

Does the album have plastic slides? Has the album been stored in high heat conditions? Any pics?

I'll try to get some pictures of the Franklin. It's a Dansco album and I can say for certain that I used acetone on it before I put it in the album; I don't remember there being any haze beforehand image.

Depending on the light/angle of the coin it looks drastically different; obviously.

Well, I was kind of proud of my quick-imaging skills.

Head on it looks fine, from an angle it looks like milk spotsimage
Is the plastic slide off of the coin when you imaged it?
How long has it been in the album?

I don't think its a bad acetone wash.

btw, that's another reason I prefer the Capital holders over the albums.
I have my Roosevelt's imaged but not my Franklins Click here and see the Roosies

If the acetone was not pure to start with (i.e. reagent grade), or used multiple times, or poorly rinsed after the acetone, then it could be due to the process. Suggest another acetone (pure) bath, hot water rinse and blow dry on cool setting. Cheers, RickO

The slide was removed for all of the images taken. I have a few coins that have issues. Perhaps it's a safe issue or the fact that my safe is in a closet? It's rarely above 80 degrees in this house so I don't think temperature/humidity should be having such a great effect.

Is it in the coin or on the coin? Have you blown on the coin to see if it's just surface contamination? (Swallow and wipe mouth before blowing - does that should off-color?) image

It looks like it's on the surface of the coin. I dunno, it's the most noticeable coin with any sort of funk about it. The rest are just toned or 'tarnished' normally.
