<< <i>Abbotts...of Michigan? >>
No.
<< <i>That seems to be a common question these days! >>
Due mayhaps to the solicitous emails?
A small creek runs behind my place. I wonder if he knows where he's fishing...it ain't the ocean...
I knew it would happen.

I also received an email from Larry;
the name rang a bell with me but I
have never dealt with him before.
Thanks, Wondercoin for the info.

somebody getting into our host's files?

That's what I wondered, too. I'm not on any dealer mailing lists, have not signed up on any dealer websites and I've never bid in any major auctions personally.
I knew it would happen.
You might or might not be amazed at whose name is on lists and how they got there. There's so much data mining going on that by now it's probably virtually untraceable. My guess is that if you've ever use a web search engine your name and your interests are out there.
You can probably get a better deal from him than working alone.
You can get the same help and an equivalent deal from many other dealers. Knowing Coinguy1, who has had an industry-wide reputation as a straight a shooter for 25+ years, were I you I would look no further. He didn't solicit you business. You have no idea what a pain working this way can be for the intermediary.
What % of hammer would any intermediary be entitled to for saving you money? How much value would your consignment have? How many items make up the package? Sell-through rates affect commision rates; who decides what are reasonable reserves if they are even part of the contract? Most importantly, how have your parameters been calculated? Past experiences of your own or others close to you. Game theory? Reading Adam Smith? Das Kapital? Sounds like a worthwhile thread.
If you have concerns about the integrity of security for CU/PCGS, Don Willis will respond to your concerns with thoroughness and dispatch.

Sounds pretty bad, I guess. Hardly seems worth it, from the way it sounds.

You kinda blew that one past me. What are you telling me? That it's a game where only a few people can produce results? My personal opinion is that the expectation of "results" over the decades is what has caused much of the anguish and the destruction of nice coins. Just my opinion here.

I'm sure he would, and I'd expect that.

but it was addressed to my daughter Sara.
The only way I can think of that he
got her name was from an ANA list
of some type - that's the only coin
organization she's a member of --
Other than that, I can't figure out how
he was able to address the email to
her.
<< <i>Even I got the email, surprised me because it came on an email I rarely use. No idea how he got it.... >>
ToddMuffin@aol.com..........Ya, that is surprising he phished that out

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>Interesting to read from others how valuable his services can be. That may be other's opinion but I don't like getting spam from a salesman or anyone else for that matter. If I don't know you don't start sending me a bunch of unsolicited sales crap it will only piss me off. Sorry but that is how I feel. I don't do it to anyone else and don't like it when it is done to me, I throw all of them away period. If I need help I know where to go or who to ask. Hey just look above and below the threads here for legit ads that are paid for as opposed to sending group emailers out off some hopefully paid for mailing list that I wish never existed since I want to remain private and my privacy is important to me. Those I do business with I don't have to protect my privacy but I pick and chose who I want to do business with and barging into my house or pc isn't cool! >>
This is a typical "cold call" from a salesman who is trying to make a living. The original post asked about the man (checking out his creds) and the forum is following through. I think many of us need his service and now that his past performance and background has been made known, we can follow-up his "cold call" if we are interested. Good job, Larry.

My same thoughts. His email is already in my spam folder.
