OK...I've accumulated a complete set of $2.5 Indians over many years. Every coin is graded MS-62 by the same grading service and were cherrypicked to have very similar color and even the same degree of die rotation from front to back.
My dream was always to have them reslabbed in multicoin holders for display purposes.
Well now that it's actually time to have them put into the multicoin holders (3 holders with 5 coins each arranged in date/mintmark order)...I just need to hear that I'm not crazy.
I know that my kids might have some difficulty selling them as a block when I kick the bucket (as I rarely sell anything myself), but I think this might be a cool set to display in this manner.
Thoughts?

Finish your vision and get those coins in those displays. Leave written instructions for your kids on who to speak when you kick it.
Congrats on finishing your project. This well matched set sounds wonderful. Pics please of the new display. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

You might explore other options that involve displaying the coins in the single-coin slabs, such as having the entire set framed, or five coins in a frame, in double sided frames. Security can be an issue for coins on public display.
As for the kids, finding a decent venue or dealer to sell to, will tend to be the biggest factor in how much they realize as a percentage of retail value.

I do too.

Absolutely you should put them in display holders because now it time to enjoy the fruits of your labors.. Congratulations
I don't think your idea is crazy (in fact I rather like it), but have you considered the unexpected? Good luck.
<< <i>How confident are you they will all still grade the same? Do you intend to have the same TPG do the slabbing? If not will they cross as you hope?

Unless I misunderstood RichR's post, he is talking about having the coins reslabbed, not cracked out.

It sounds like a cool set - why not follow your dream? And I don't think offering 5 MS62's together, in groups of 3, will make the coins much harder to sell, than doing so individually.
U.S. Type Set
I too finished a nice EF matched CC Morgan Dollar set. It sat in either the safe or the safe deposit box. I was
afraid to display it!
bob
...go for it.
EDIT: BTW, congrats; that's some milestone achievement!

As surmised by others, I'm planning to have them reslabbed collectively by the same TPG service that had previously graded each coin. But right now, they're in three generations of holders and while satisfying...they just don't look "right" as a group.
So I guess I'll just do it!

Be sure to post the final results
man, you suck
tongue-in-cheek of course....
man you suck
And since I always liked the incuse Indian design, the $2.5 quarter eagle set seemed to be a reasonable length run with a couple of semi-keys and only one real killer key coin.
Oh... Be sure you post pics...

Once you have the display you want what will you do with it? Bookshelf, wall, safe, SDB? I have a few multi-coin displays but only for modest coins because I worry about displaying nice ones. Too many downsides.
Are you going to show us the set? Or is this a tease?
Lance.

My bad, as Mark pointed out, I should have read your post closer. I guess the only (small) issue then is are some of the current slabs of a more "desirable" variety. It sure would be nice to see them grouped together. Let us know how it goes, hope to see some pictures!
Go really crazy and crack them out and put them in a custom Capital Plastics holder. If you're gonna be nuts - be really nuts. Enjoy your coins to the maximum possible...
You might be unhappy with the 3 5 coin set holders.
They are bulky and more difficult to store.
If you want to just look at one coin, four have to come along for the ride each time.
I would prefer to see you have a nice wooden or other material display made to order house up to 5 slabs each so that you can have your cake and eat it too. Then you can go back to the individual slabs anytime you want.
I collect quarters struck on nickel planchets by date and mintmark. I am trying to get them all from 1960-1998. I crack the slabbed ones out ands put them in a Whitman album. I have cracked out 2 graded MS66.
I figure it is my set and I am not worried about when I am gone. It pleases me now!!!
I will be even more pleased if I ever complete it!!! LOL

You can always feel free to adopt me, and then not worry about the coins being sold!
Have the coins displayed the way you want them.
However, the set doesn't need to be encased together for it to be appealing. My advice is to find a third party holder of however many number of coins you have slabbed. Find the right encasement, it'll look better than the big blocks of NGC blocks, you'll still ha e them slabbed, and your children can sell them off individually when you kick off.
