My first gold coin...

I always wanted an indian $5 coin...
I just regret not buying these when they were a lot more reasonable!

Successful Trades: Swampboy,
I don't worry about missing the boat on yesterday's prices though.
Just enjoy 'em when you get 'em.

I was on the fence about just getting a First Spouse coin but none of the classics guys would respect me then.
<< <i>Is that 20 ounces of gold!?

It is a one ounce 2000 Euro from Austria. Phenomenal design IMHO. I'd rather have the 2001 though as its mintage is less than 1/4 that of any other year.

I have that in silver, but it's no where near as exciting as the gold version.

Actually, the one pictured is indeed a 20 ounce 2000 Euro. The one ounce Gold Philharmonic from Austria is the 100 Euro, or 2000 Schilling for the earlier issues.
<< <i>Nice choice for your first buy
Agree. I always liked this coin because of the design---it has a real Indian brave rather than a female Caucasian wearing an Indian headdress and it has an incused design which is unique for U.S. coins.

<< <i>Love the gold indians. My favorite is the $10:
That thar is a beaut
An uncirculated Indian $5 is a great first gold coin. The design is both beautiful and novel, the incused design by Bela Lyon Pratt, from the Renaissance era of U.S. coinage under Theodore Roosevelt.
My first gold was a bullion coin that I have since traded. But the one that holds meaning to me is the above Saint Gaudens $20, graded MS65. It's fulfillment of a childhood dream and the beginning of my collecting coins at this level in recent times. Real nice coin congrats.Looked at the rest of their gold......too rich for my blood
