Did I just buy a fake coin?

I quickly pulled the trigger on this coin , but the more I look at it, the more it seems to have "that look" to it....I haven't tried to match it up in the Overton book yet, but could this be an electrotype coin or otherwise counterfeit?

I know, normally I would but I thought I was snagging a coin at 50% of it's value...I acted on instinct basically. I'd like to hear the rest of the crew weigh in on this one
If the consensus is that this guy is selling fake coins, I hope I can get everyone to report this guy to help my cause.
"for some reason if you recieve a coin and its not what your expected im sorry about your luck. for coins i do not accept returns or give refunds".
To add - if I had glanced at the coin and that price, in the heat of the moment, I probably would have pulled the trigger too.
even if he says no refunds
as long as you paid via paypal
but be sure to get ?delivery confirmation

He's been reported numerous times already.
I have one question though. Why is it that members here always ask for advise after pulling the trigger on ebay items and not before doing so?

OK, now with that and the fact that I've looked through the Overton book, there is zero doubt now that he's a crook.
You know, I wonder if, with this knowledge I could work with the Postal inspectors to get him arrested? I suppose he's probably too small a "fish"

Because it was a newly listed coin that appeared to be listed at half it's value...that does happen from time to time, legitimately
here!

Even with the low price.... I think the low feedback rating and his 'tough luck' no return policy on coins would have stopped me from pulling the trigger. But... we all have our weak moments. Hope you can get your money back without too much hassle.
<< <i>I would advise you not to pay. There is another thread involving this seller here recently.

One reason... the distinct possibility that IF it is a "good" deal, while all the forumites are piping in with their opinions, another one will swoop in and pull the trigger themselves...

I realize your logic, but I was talking about asking in a way that wouldn't lead anyone back to the source, whether it is ebay or any other venue. Just copy the photo and post it along with the question. I'd rather miss a good deal than pay for a bad one, but that's just me.

And he's worried about other people sending him back fake coins.
He calls what appears to be a VF detailed coin a F12 to help reel you in.
Watch out for this ebay seller sh1tterbug8 and his switcho...woo.
roadrunner
and he has collected all these coins for many years without knowing much about any of them
hmmmmmm.
I knew it would happen.

He was also the topic a couple of weeks ago selling fake coins in fake "ANACS" slabs.
Why eBay continues to allow a seller to offer his wares after they determine he is selling counterfeit items (and yes, eBay did make that ruling as many of his other coins were shut down by eBay) is beyond reasoning to me.

by low feedback sellers the common thread is the dirty paw that is holding the coin everytime. I think that the seller may be selling
under several account names.
I'm no expert but the wing detail looks all wrong.
<< <i>Now that he's a member maybe he will chime in.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for him to respond.

Yea I just got through reading that...he knows what he is doing. Hartman, why don't you just learn about coins so you can make honest money like everyone else?
I'm glad you said it Derek ...
I certainly was thinking it as a watched the thread unfold earlier.
But the problem is much bigger than that, of course. If all it did was smack the quick-flippers a few times, no great harm IMO.
I'm not in Law Enforcement, or Law of any kind .... but isn't this a federal offense that can be prosecuted in the US?
How many busts would it take to make people start thinking twice about being involved with these fakes?
Hell, we throw pot growers in jail for growing their own stash ... let's get a few resellers of known counterfiets in there too.

Because they will get snaked on the purchase.
