The 1st episode about CC $1 is kind of funny. I know it is probably old news but I don't have cable and it is on Hulu now. Canceled cable when the kids went off to college. More money to by coins with, ha I wish.

good episode, but he doesn't ever wear those glasses he got!

Hard headed. The old man was at the last PCGS show in Vegas and was getting coins graded.
He'll probably be at the next in Sept as well. Maybe Chumly will come with.

I am going to Vegas in January and want to go there. Has anyone ever gone and purchased a coin from them?

    Tom

  • Friends were just in Vegas. They drove by the place twice. There was a line outside the door, both times.
Too hot for them. This was on a weekend, so possibly more tourists in town.
You can find the location. The name is Gold and Silver Pawn, or something close to it.
It's north of Charleston St., south of downtown. Between 1st and 3rd, not hard to locate.
I'm going Labor Day and it is on my list.

Have you guys seen their new competition? Show's called Hard Core Pawn and is filmed outta Detroit. In their intro, They say, We don't need no experts because we are the experts. After the first episode they were all out at a gun store looking to buy protection...Kinda odd that they didn't already have it? When I worked down at a Wheel shop in Detroit, Shootouts with the customers were fairly common and we even had carryout delivery for more ammo...
  • Hardly competition--it sounds more like imitation. And, Detroit is a lousy place to try to make a big name for yourself; it's one of the most poverty-stricken, crime-ridden cities in the country.

Detroit might just get pawned by the mayor for three-fiddy on one of those episodes.

The shop is named "Gold and Silver Pawn". They are located on the eastern side of Las Vegas Boulevard South (though not quite considered on " The Strip"; the Strip area is commonly regarded to be Las Vegas Boulevard South between Russell Road and Sahara Avenue) just south of Fremont Street and downtown. Expect to see a lot of people outside if they are filming.

The last time I was in Vegas, late last winter, we had a cabbie drive us by the place. It was like wall to wall people outside. According the cabbie, they didn’t have a great reputation before they got the show gig. I’m guessing that the prices are pretty strong for common material, like modern mint and Proof sets, which most of us already have.

I'm actually on the road back from Vegas at present. We were going to swing by there Friday night...er...Saturday morning at about 4 AM on our way out of town. We were a bit disappointed that the "Open 24 Hours" only applies to the "night window" useful for redeeming pawns and getting bail money. But overall, we looked in the front door and it looked pretty cool, snapped a few shots (photos that is) through the door to commemorate our visit.

Basically from the outside, it's just another pawn shop.
