this post is for you aka segoja

i have admired your collection and knowledge you have on the ike dollars for many years and hope to aspire to the top. I want to know how did you come about that coin you are currently selling on ebay?Link

How could have this escape detection from quality control from the mint? Did you cherry pick this yourself. Any information would be great information to me and maybe others.

I saw this coin today, too. I thought it was phenomenal and neat. . .

Is it in the 100 Greatest error book? If not, it should be.

Very cool. Have to wonder along the same lines as the OP. Proof 73-S Ikes all ended up in hard cases into which they fit nicely, didn't they? It would almost seem that this one had help getting out of the mint.

A quick check at Heritage will find this coin.

I wish this had been cherry picked.

It is a super cool error.

It is not in the top 100 errors...to my knowledge, but I have talked to Nick Brown about adding it and a few other really neat Ike errors for the next publishing!

I had this coin displayed at ANA and it wowed a lot of people!

    Thanks for all the compliments!

not to say it isn't a fantastic error .........but I would think it had to have a little help getting out of the mint image

All I can say is that this is the most neatest error coin on an ike proof that I have ever seen. This should be in the top 100 for sure. It is very interesting how this one made it out of the mint though.

No kidding. It would never have fit into the black slab insert.

    Have you seen this one?

    How about this one?

I can't help but wonder if orders were being taken? And if so, are they really error's?

And btw, the indent coin and the double struck offset coin were submitted on the same ticket which really doesn't mean anything other than they were submitted on the same ticket..

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    Lee,

Haven't seen that mated pair for at least 10 mintues. It's pretty darn cool as well. Both those NGC errors reside in PCGS holders.

It's about to go back into long term storage. Had it out at ANA for display.
