New Purchase 1800 V-1 Half Dime
It’s rare that I ever buy what I would call a “wonder coin,” but this is about as close I’ll probably get to one. It is an 1800 half dime in PCGS MS-64. I fell in love with this coin the first time I saw it at the summer FUN convention. Although this is the one date and variety (LM-1, V-1) in the early half series that comes fully struck on any consistent basis (And I use the term “consistent” advisedly.), this is truly an outstanding example. All of the detail is sharp; the coin has only microscopic defects; and the surfaces are original and lustrous.
And yes it does have some current pedigree of sorts. It is the first coin that pops up for the 1800 “liberty” half dime on the Coin Facts website in MS-64. I’m going to see if I can spot it in any past auctions.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It would definitely be a "wonder coin" if added to my meager collection.
It is a jawdropper.

<< <i>Bill,
just visited their website, seems to have only modern, how did this little darling come up? >>
Their web site is not up to date. You have to look at their inventory in person. They have a spectacular seated dime collection for sale as a set. It contains a lot of “old time” Choice Proof and Mint State material, all certified, with the original old time dealer envelopes. They also had a 1797, 15 Star half dime in MS-63, probably from the same collection, at the Summer FUN, but you can’t buy everything.
Awesome strike, nice color & luster. Really a fantastic find.
I have to admit, when I saw the headline "New Purchase 1800 Half Dime", I was not expecting to see a coin anywhere near that nice. You have a good eye, my friend.

I'm surprised jdhfla hasn't already made a visit there.

If you upgraded from an 1800 LM-2 or LM-4, please PM me.

Take some more pictures and show the coin in its true light.
I did a quick search and found that it was not in the following sales:

Eliasberg
Norweb
Pittman
But I did find it in the heritage archives...2003 Baltimore ANA lot 6410 where it was in an OGH as a MS-63.
At least I think it is the same coin due to the small ding on Liberty's right breast. It has the same strike and is the same die stage. Looks like it had a bath at some point.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

If the coin ws in an MS-63 holder it was under graded IMO. I'll have to look at the one in the Heritage sale. If the coin was dipped, it retoned very nicely.
