<< <i>Or is it someone testing their counterfeiting skill against the abilities of the PCGS graders? >>
Might just be feeling cynical... but I like this guess.
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Is that what you get with a counterfeit, questionable authenticity ? Does this mean that PCGS wasn't sure ? >>
PCGS can't say "counterfeit" for legal and law enforcement reasons.

I learn something new on this forum everyday....Thanks for the information....
The cops agreed it was counterfeit and DID let us examine the note. It was an obvious conterfeit but the whole point being, once a merchant detects a counterfeit, they are obligated to confiscate it and turn it over to the authorities.
Imagine the uproar if you, in good faith, submitted a bunch of coins and were informed that the entire submission was counterfeit and had been turned over to the Treasury Department.
I think "questionable authenticity" sounds prety good.

I doubt it; if it was a test, a single counterfeit would have been submitted with a bunch of real coins.

an entire submission has been deemed Q.A , and apparently will not be the last .
Much more would need to be learned about the specific coins in these cases before drawing any type of educated conclusions .
Tough lesson there for someone I am sure.

Its would be like watching a train wreck.
You kinda of wish PCGS could keep those coins as several of them are high dollar dates and could live to bite some unsuspecting bargin hunter.
<< <i>OUCH!! Like Tommy boy said "That's going to leave a mark".... >>
Nope, that isn't going to leave a mark, that is going to do some serious scarring.
It would be very interesting to hear the details of some of those coin deals.

<< <i>Maybe they wanted PCGS to certify them as Questionable Authenticity!

Hopefully for prosecution!
