Found this Seated Dime in a small coin shop. Thought it was pretty cool not the best condition
But not as smoothed out as most that I run across in my area.

    Terry, I've got to be honest with you.

    That dime has a fair amount of detail with EF sharpness, but it's been cleaned and has many serious scratches. As such I'd net grade it all way down to Good - Very Good. This is not the type of coin that you should seek for a really nice collection. But I know that older coins like this don't show up at small shops and shows now a days.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    If you are looking for the Legend Obverse die, it is the most common Liberty Seated type coin in all grades. There is no justification for settling for an unattractive example.

    I agree, too. BTW, is there a weak S mint mark? Hard to tell...

    Barry, No "S" on her she is a phillyimage

    The only reason I grabbed her was at the shop under a fairly good light it looked like there was frost in the
    deeper parts of the devices and the fields had a ton of hairline scratches which struck me as funny.
    Between the scratches on the reverse the field has a mirror like look to it. The last time I saw that
    kind of look to a coin it was an impaired Silver proof my brother in-law got in change from of all places Taco Bell.
    (There was no toning on itimage )
    She was just an oddity not to be part of a type set or anything like that.

    A little beat up and cleaned to be sure, but there are far, far worse out there. Depending on what you paid of course, it could be a pretty decent piece.
    Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.
