Yes indeed, Double Denomination Sac struck on a Maryland Statehood Quarter.

This one is even double dated.

Interesting.. I do not collect errors, but they can be intriguing... I am always amazed at how many get out of the mint. Cheers, RickO

What a great coin! Thank you for posting it. While it might, for some of our more well informed members, be "old news," this is the first time I've seen that particular error. GREAT!

2000 Sac and 1998 quarter? How's that possible?

You can see the reeded edge, sweet. Old news? News to me, thanks for posting image

How about a pic of the label. Curious as to how they worded it.

It was found by an error coin dealer for me, btw thanks Jon image

    The label reads:

    2000 P $1 Struck ON A
    2000 P MARYLAND 25C
    MINT ERROR MS 67
    NGC

The 8 your seeing is actually the reverse design date 1788 on the Mass SHQ.

Most likely in bags as there are about a dozen known.

The mint reused a bin for Sac planchets that had previous used for completed Mass SHQ's.

A few of the SHQ's where stuck in the inner seems of the bin.

You can find more in depth info on these at www.minterrornews.com

The best things coming from the mint are usually the most screwed up products. This has always intriqued me. It's like promoting vandalism.

Let's see, 767,140,000 minted and some 12 of these get stuck in bins. I'll take the "mintage" of 12 anyday, seems quite rare to me on a very cool design, and its bright white image

THAT is one very cool error, indeed... (from someone who's bought from the Chris before....first sale on the new website, I belive, in January...top notch to deal with)!

(The preceeding post was not spam in any way)

Now, the OP says the cert says:

    2000 P $1 Struck ON A
    2000 P MARYLAND 25C
    MINT ERROR MS 67
    NGC

Yet, Broadstruck states it's a Mass SHQ. Not a hangin' offense, but does NGC have the wrong info on the cert? Or is the cert correct, and Broadstruck is wrong (which must mean there's a blue moon out tonite!)? lol
    I'll come up with something.

Well, I live in one of them (hint...NOT Maryland), and though I'm in FLA for another week, I heard from a friend tonite, and he's pretty sure there's a blue moon in the Boston area...lol

Very cool! This piece gives an idea as to what the sac might have been like had it been struck on the same sort of planchet as the SBAs.
